Be in a Parade!
Burlington Parks and Recreation will be hosting Vermont's largest children celebration on May 16th. There will be a parade through Burlington starting at 9:30am and a variety of crafts, games, and entertainment at the waterfront all day!
The Sailing Center will be marching in the parade this year and would be thrilled to have any former campers participate! If you or your children are interested in marching with us, please contact Jen Guimaraes,
jen@communitysailingcenter.org.
WAVES
Water. Access. Vitality. Education. Stewardship
We have formed many exciting new partnerships to assist us in our WAVES Initiative. Each month we will be highlighting one of our new partners!
Vermont Lay Monitoring Program
The Vermont Lay Monitoring Program, a statewide, cooperative effort between the Water Quality Division and volunteer lake monitors, operates under the original program goals established 30 years ago: to involve citizens in lake protection and to establish a database on each lake useful for documenting future changes in water quality.
This program is the perfect opportunity for the Sailing Center to reach out to the community and get them involved in water quality awareness. We have an invaluable location on the waterfront and unlimited opportunities to expose people to the wonder and beauty of Lake Champlain every day through our programs. We are looking forward to this new partnership and dedication to contribute to maintaining the health of Lake Champlain.
The LMP will designate a new monitoring site in Burlington Bay, right outside the Community Sailing Center. Participants in Sailing Center programs will have the opportunity to monitor the Lake each week and contribute to this wonderful, on-going, scientific research!
Northern Vermont High School Sailing Team
Sail Fast!
We are excited to announce the new High School Sailing Coach, Mike Collins. Mike who is an Eckerd College Sailing Team alum and a Sailing Center instructor, is really looking forward to working with our spring sailors! The team practices on Mondays, Tuesdays and Friday -- look for the team sailing on the waterfront as they refine their skills for upcoming regattas.
