If you need a boat or just a place to store yours, this is the place to be.
To ensure the safety of all who play on Lake Champlain, we require that the skipper of every sailboat rented from us have a US Sailing Small Boat Certification (Little Red Book), which can be obtained after completing a sailing course at the Sailing Center. If the skipper has not taken lessons through the Community Sailing Center, the skipper will be required to take a Basic Sailing Rental Test (written.) While the test is not taken on a pass/fail basis, the Community Sailing Center may require that the skipper take a one-hour private lesson before renting. Depending on wind and weather conditions, the Sailing Center may also require a practical on-the-water test.
All renters are subject to the rules of the Community Sailing Center, which include wearing a PFD at all times while on the dock and on the water. Renters are also required to stay within Burlington Bay in view of the Sailing Center docks. The minimum age to act as skipper of a rental boat is 8 years. Passengers must be 6 years old for keelboat rentals and 8 years old for dinghies, canoes, paddleboards and kayak rentals. Every passenger on the boat must sign a waiver attesting to the fact that they are able to swim a minimum of 50 yards and tread water for 5 minutes. Sailors may choose to rent dinghies or keelboats hourly or purchase a season pass. We have a 2-hour limit if there is a waiting list to rent; otherwise, you are free to stay on the water until approximately 30 minutes before closing time.

The Community Sailing Center is home to sail and human powered craft of all kinds and sizes. Our summer storage program runs from May – October and our winter storage program runs from November through May. Storage prices remain the same for both seasons.
Those who store their boats with us are given:
- the combination to the gate locks which allows for 24 hour access to the boat park
- use of dollies for ease in launching
- the option of purchasing a hoist pass for unlimited hoist usage
Boats may be stored on racks, trailers or tires in the boat park. Questions about storage may be directed to Tom Stark.
