Speed, skill, and excitement are what racing is all about.
For more experienced sailors, racing sailboats on Lake Champlain is an excellent way to test and develop skill and experience the competitive side of sailing.
Northern Vermont High School Sailing Team (NVHSST)
The Community Sailing Center hosts the only high school sailing team in Vermont, the Northern Vermont High School Sailing Team. NVHSST offers sailors the chance to fine tune their skills during regular team practices and compete throughout New England. NVHSST is open to any student in good standing attending public, private, or home school. The team practices three to five days a week after school, with weekend regattas both at home and away. Spring and Fall sessions available.
Youth Summer Race Program
The Summer Race Program is a one-week program designed for Level III graduates, with the opportunity to participate in up to six weeks of racing throughout the summer. This exciting opportunity will build on the advanced skills and sail theory students received in Level III and will include advanced coaching. Campers will also learn racing skills including starts, tactical tips, and winning strategies. Opportunities to compete against regional teams at local regattas are optional for participants. Ages 11-16.
