Speed, skill, and excitement are what racing is all about.

For more experienced sailors, racing sailboats on Lake Champlain is an excellent way to test and develop skill and experience the competitive side of sailing.

Northern Vermont High School Sailing Team (NVHSST)

The Community Sailing Center hosts the only high school sailing team in Vermont, the Northern Vermont High School Sailing Team. NVHSST offers sailors the chance to fine tune their skills during regular team practices and compete throughout New England. NVHSST is open to any student in good standing attending public, private, or home school. The team practices three to five days a week after school, with weekend regattas both at home and away. Spring and Fall sessions available.

BIC Race Camp

This camp is for our younger sailors who are ready to start learning about race technique and strategy in our fleet of single handed O’pen BICs. Ages 9-12.

Summer Race – It’s back!

The Summer Race Program is a week long program designed for Level III graduates. This exciting opportunity will build on the advanced skills and sail theory students received in Level III and will include advanced coaching. Sailors will also learn racing skills including starts, tactical tips, and winning strategies. Each program is designed around a local or regional regatta that the team can participate in. Ages 12-16.


Spend a week learning how to sail solo! This program is for sailors who have completed Levels I-III and who are ready to take on the challenge of learning how to sail a single-handed dinghy. During this program, sailors will learn the ins and outs of Laser sailing and continue to develop their on the water skills in a new vessel.  Ages 12-16

Middle School Race

Develop basic sailing and racing skills with a team of other middle school students. Focus on sailing quickly & efficiently on each point of sail and begin to develop novice racing strategies. The spring sessions will be held on 23’ keelboats and the fall sessions will be held on 420s. Grades 6-8.

Friday Night Dinghy Racing

Celebrate the end of the week with an open dinghy race! All dinghy classes welcome: launch your own sunfish or borrow a CSC dinghy. Racing rules are simplified. Prior sailing knowledge is required. All skippers must take and pass our rental test. This series welcomes people learning to race or folks looking to sail around the marks with friends. Come as a crew or come alone. Numbers are limited and sign-up is first come first serve starting at 4:30 pm. Crews can begin rigging at 5:30 pm. First gun promptly at 6pm. Participation in this program is free.
