2026 Youth Camp Lottery

The Community Sailing Center will continue using a lottery system for youth camp registration in the 2026 season to ensure fair and equitable access for all families. This approach gives everyone time to choose the best camps and provides equal opportunity for new campers, returning families, and those previously on waitlists.

Lottery registration will be open January 8–12, and entering is a simple one-step process. During this period, families may request up to two camps per camper

After the lottery, General Registration opens February 3, allowing all families to sign up for any remaining spots or join waitlists for additional camps.

Please note that Stars & Stripes (June 29–July 2) and Junior Big Boat (dates TBD) are not part of the lottery; registration for these camps will begin after the lottery process on February 3.

Important Dates & Details

Thursday January 8 – Monday January 12: Lottery registration is open! This is not first-come, first-serve, so there’s no advantage to registering early. Just make sure your form is submitted by January 12 at 11:59 PM using the link below.

Tuesday, January 13 –  January 22: These are our administration days. During this time, you’ll receive an automated email that says your camper is on a “waitlist.” Don’t worry, this is part of the process! It simply means that you are registered in the lottery. No action is needed during this time period.  We will follow up with your official camp placement soon.

January 23: Lottery Selection emails are sent out.

January 23 – January 30: Selection emails will be sent out to families on a rolling basis. Please check your inbox (and spam folder) regularly; messages will come from  info@communitysailingcenter.org or notifications@amilia.com.

    • If you receive an email stating “a spot is available,” congratulations! You’ll have 3 days from receiving the email to accept or decline. You can cancel anytime during this period without penalty. If you do not respond within 3 days, your camper will be removed from the camp waitlist, and you’ll need to wait until February 3 to register.

Monday, February 2: A 20% deposit is due and will automatically be charged to the payment method on file to secure your camper’s spot. Please note that deposits are non-refundable and non-transferable.

Tuesday, February 3: General registration opens for all families. Those who were not placed during the lottery can now register for open camp spots on a first-com, first served basis. Waitlists will also be available for camps that are full.

If you miss the lottery registration, you will need to wait until February 3 to register for any remaining camps. Please contact us at info@communitysailingcenter.org with any questions.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Before the CSC implemented lottery registration, demand for camp spots far exceeded availability. Additionally, we saw that open registration often caused stress and created barriers for families. The lottery system ensures fair access and gives every child an equal chance to participate, helping us get more kids out on the water.
  • To enter, complete one form per camper, selecting one or two camp sessions, and answer the required questions.
  • Lottery registration is open January 8–12. This is not first-come, first-served, so there’s no advantage to registering early-just make sure your form is submitted by January 12 at 11:59 PM.
  • Yes, you can make changes until the lottery closes on January 12 at 11:59 PM. To update your form, email us at info@communitysailingcenter.org, and we’ll make the changes in your account.
  • After the deadline, we cannot make changes due to high demand and our priority to notify families of placements as quickly as possible.
  • If you need to cancel, please notify us as soon as possible. If you receive an email offering a spot, you can ignore it or email  info@communitysailingcenter.org to remove you from the waitlist. After February 2, the 20% deposit becomes non-refundable.
  • Cancellations made up to one month before the camp start date will get a refund for payments except the deposit. Cancellation after this time will not receive a refund.
  • During the lottery, you may select 1 or 2 camps per camper. After the lottery ends and general registration opens on February 3, there are no limits- you can register for additional camps or join waitlists for others.
  • Choose the camps that best fit your needs when registering for the lottery. You can request two different weeks of the same camp, two different camps in the same week, or any combination.
  • If you’re unsure which camp or which camp level is right for your child, email us at info@communitysailingcenter.org
  • You’ll receive an email saying “a spot is available” between January 23–30. Please check your inbox (and spam folder) regularly for messages from info@communitysailingcenter.org or notifications@amilia.com. You’ll have 3 days to respond, or your camper will be moved to the bottom of the waitlist. Emails go out on a rolling basis, so don’t worry if you don’t hear right away.
  • You have 3 days to respond after receiving the “spot is available” email offering a spot. If you don’t respond within that time, the space will be offered to the next family. You can still join any waitlist during general registration starting February 3.
  • There is no charge to enter the lottery, nor is there an initial charge when claiming your spot. If selected, you will need to enter your card information within 3 days of receiving the offer to confirm your spot. Cards will not be charged until February 2, when the 20% deposit is due. You can cancel without penalty before February 2
  • The remaining balance is due May 1, and personalized payment plans can be arranged after February 2.
  • Yes! Scholarships are open to all families. Applications go live January 8, the same day lottery registration opens. Applying will not affect your chances of getting into camp. Awards are announced on a rolling basis. If you are unable to pay the 20% deposit, note that in your application-we’ll work with you on payment options.
  • Questions? Email john@communitysailingcenter.org.
  • The lottery form will ask if you’d like siblings placed in the same week. We’ll do our best to honor these requests, but placement together is not guaranteed.
  • The lottery is divided into three groups: returning campers (and siblings), previously waitlisted campers, and new campers. Selections are random, but we aim to represent all groups across camps. Standard age and camp prerequisites still apply.
  • The lottery considers returning campers (and siblings), previously waitlisted campers, and new families in separate groups to ensure fair representation. This doesn’t limit new families’ chances, since returning campers often choose advanced camps, while new families typically register for beginner sessions.
  • Some high-demand camps (like Little Guppies and Level I) may fill quickly due to limits on boats, instructors, and safety requirements. However, multi-activity camps may still have openings after the lottery and offer a great introduction to sailing for new sailors. Spots may also open later if families cancel or we’re able to expand capacity.
  • Starting February 3, registration opens for all remaining camp spots. Registration also opens for Stars & Stripes daily camps (June 29–July 2) and Junior Big Boat (dates TBD), which are not part of the lottery. There are no camps on July 3. At this time, you can also add your child to waitlists for any other camps.
